Squamish has changed, and it’s time we catch up.

Squamish Forward is a platform to discuss the issues and opportunities that face Squamish. We believe Squamish is full of promise and opportunity for the future. Change is inevitable, but how do we preserve the best of the past and build on what we have to create a town that is a great place to live?

Over the past few years, Squamish has seen a rapidly growing population, the rising cost of living, and increased stress on its public infrastructure, such as public parking. Too many of our workers and families were reliant on our tourism and recreation industries when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The challenge of expensive housing is tearing apart the DNA of our town.

As we look toward the future, we must learn from our past mistakes. The tides of change are inevitable, and we should see them as an opportunity to improve – not as a threat.

Squamish needs a diverse economy to build our employment and business tax base so we can get build the community amenities and infrastructure we need, and can create a Squamish is an amazing place to live.

Squamish Forward is committed to following Indigenous traditions of acknowledging that we’re located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).  We respect and honour the Indigenous people who still live on and care for these lands, on which we are guests.
